What a fabulous evening of social netball we had in Newport last night as our season of fixtures got underway in the brand new Isle of Wight Thursday night social league. In excess of 40 players came together for the 1st round of our inaugural season and everyone had a great time under the guidance of our friendly and knowledgeable umpires Gemma and Hayley with Christ The King's indoor facility a buzz of excitement throughout. Having had two weeks of practice sessions our teams were ready to go and we saw two brilliant games played with exactly the right balance of fun and competitiveness.
First up was Pace Makers Vs Hot Shots and what a contest this was. Pace Makers led early on but as the game took shape Hot Shots found their feet and started to play well as a team. Both squads rotated their players and tried new positions with the game remaining a close contest throughout. As the time ran out on the final third it was Hot Shots who were celebrating as they went home with a 20 - 18 win.
The second game was a little more one sides but equally enjoyable for all involved as Shooting Stars brought their A game to the court and put together a fantastic performance to kick start their season with a 22 - 5 win against Net Ninja's. There was no lack of effort from The Ninja's who put some good passing together and continued to get to know each other as a brand new team.
Well played to all our teams and a huge thank you to our umpires for their help and guidence, ensuring everyone had a brillant night of netball.
Next weeks games see Hot Shots play Net Ninja's while Pace Makers take on Shooting Stars.
We already have interest from new teams and players so it won't be long before we are able to grow the league, if you want to invite friends to get involved feel free to do so. They can register using the link below or contact me on 07538562547 for more info.
Have a great week everyone and good luck next Thursday.
Thanks
Rob
