Newport Thursday Social Netball - NEW SEASON UNDERWAY

The Newport Thursday Netball League started its new season with an extraordinary display of teamwork and skill. The league, which sees teams competing in a 7 a side format, with the focus on fun, social games, kicked off 3 brilliant games on Thursday night

The inaugural match of the season saw the Wight Shots take on the Hot Shots. The game was competitive from the get-go, with both teams displaying an incredible level of determination and improvement. However, it was the Hot Shots who came out on top in the end with a slim victory, edging out Wight Shots 11-9. The margin may have been narrow but the game was undeniably exciting, setting the stage for an unpredictable and thrilling season of fun netball ahead.

The second match of the night saw Shooting Stars come up against Wingland. The Shooting Stars put up a gallant effort, but Wingland demonstrated superior agility and precision, securing a decisive 24-5 victory. Wingland's dominant performance showcased the team's improvement, suggesting they could a force to be reckoned with this season.

There was also a points match win for Net Ninja's who played a friendly game and took home an 18-0 win to kick off their season in a positive way. 

The standout player of the week was Sarah Brown of the Hot Shots. Brown's exceptional performance and crucial contributions to her team's victory earned her the title of Most Valued Player. Her display of talent and dedication sets a high standard for the rest of the season.

As the season has just begun, it's too early to predict the top scorers for each division. However, last night's games have already promised a highly competitive and exciting season. With players like Sarah Brown setting the pace, the Newport Thursday Netball League is sure to deliver top-notch social netball action.
